Learn to develop a very specialized set of skills and techniques unique to flamenco guitar playing in a relaxed and supportive environment. In my class, I carefully train guitarists of all levels in the development of their techniques, while helping you build your collection of flamenco pieces and falsetas, (melodic lines), in both traditional and modern form which includes some jazz elements.
Guitarists, whether beginners or professionals, will find great value in a class dedicated to honing their techniques. From the intricate alzapúa to the mesmerizing arpeggios, the class focuses on refining skills such as rasgueos, picados, tremolo, and rhythm. By delving deep into these techniques, students can elevate their playing to new heights and explore the vast possibilities of the guitar. This class is not limited to novices but also caters to advanced and professional players seeking continuing education in their craft. Regardless of skill level, guitarists will find an enriching environment that fosters growth and mastery of their beloved instrument
Studies used in class are derived from the pedagogy originated by Flamenco Guitar Master, Alquilino “El Entrí” Jimenez, René Heredia, Andréana Cortés, Paco de Lucia, Pedro Cortés, and other masters. Each study is designed to help you confidently become the best flamenco guitarist you can be. We work specifically on technique over memorized repertoire to help you build your skills for solo work, and dance accompaniment. Each week we learn sections of Palo (song form), adding falsetas as we go. The culmination builds towards a complete solo piece or an expanded musical idea for dance or cante (singing) accompaniment. Whether for personal enjoyment or getting ready for a live gig, guitarist will enjoy the collaborative study all in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Through focused studies on flamenco styles such as Soleá, Alegrías, Tangos, Bulerías, and many more, guitarists will gain deep insights into the rhythm, melodies, and emotional expressions of this captivating art form. Offered as private or semi-private instruction, our program ensures personalized attention and guidance from expert instructors who are passionate about sharing their knowledge. As part of the program, students will also be granted the opportunity to sit in on a dance class, further enhancing their understanding of the dynamics and connection between the dancer and the musician. Pre-requisite: at least 1-year of techniques class or equivilant of 1 + years of study.

Flamenco Cante (singing)
We combined a complete flamenco dance experience and compliment it with a great workout. This class is perfect for students who have never taken a flamenco dance class, yet challenging for the intermediate level dancer. This combined class will focus on the upper body dance techniques: core, arm-movements (braceos), and hand movements (floreos) as well as the lower body: Cool footwork combinations (zapateado/taconeo), including marcaje (marking steps), vueltas (turns), and compás y palmas (rhythm and hand-clapping), all with simple easy-to-learn choreography with appropriate level of difficulty for intermediate level.
The cante is the heart of flamenco. It unifies and gives life to the dance. It is the one element that holds everything together and it gives shape to the dance and energizes it. Andréana's flamenco cante classes are open to all; suitable for students of all abilities. Andréana’s Flamenco Cante Classes is whether you’re an experienced singer or a complete novice.
